Gym cancellation help

Gym charged me after cancelling

If payments continue after cancellation, keep evidence of your cancellation attempt and ask the gym to explain why the payment was taken.

RefundHelp approach: create a clear written record, explain your circumstances, ask for the contract term being relied on, and keep evidence of every response.

When this guide may help

  • You are trying to cancel and need clear wording.
  • The gym has not confirmed cancellation in writing.
  • You were charged after cancellation or attempted cancellation.
  • You need to request a refund or account correction.
  • You want to avoid relying only on phone calls or app messages.

What to include in your request

Your request should include your membership reference, dates, the amount in dispute, what happened, what evidence you have, and what outcome you want. Keep the tone firm but calm.

Important Direct Debit warning

Cancelling a Direct Debit can stop future payments, but it does not automatically end your gym contract. If you believe a payment was taken by mistake, after cancellation, for the wrong amount or on the wrong date, ask your bank about the Direct Debit Guarantee and keep the gym informed in writing.
